DURHAM, N.C. – Duke men's soccer sophomore forward Ulfur Bjornsson was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday afternoon. Bjornsson joins Syracuse Orange goalkeeper Tomas Hut as the first weekly award winner for the 2024 season.
Bjornsson, the 6-foot-3 forward from Hafnarfjordur, Iceland, tallied nine points during the Blue Devils opening weekend matchups in California. In the season opener against San Diego, Bjornsson had a part in both goals that Duke scored, assisting on Jose Ortega's first career goal, before slotting a 30-yard blast into the top right corner to give the lead.
