EUGENE, Ore. – Duke graduate Curtis Beach rounded out the decathlon on a high note Saturday evening at the U.S. Olympic Trials, blowing away the field in the 1,500m.
Beach entered the day with 4,047 points from the first five events, and began action Saturday by clocking 14.95 in the 110m hurdles for 12th place and 856 points. He then opened the discus throw with a mark of 120-10 (36.85) before taking ninth in the pole vault with a clearance of 4.65.
