COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Former Duke National Player of the Year Shane Battier, a two-time international medalist, will serve as the athlete representative on the USA Basketball Men’s Junior National Team Committee for the 2017-20 quadrennium.

Battier represented the U.S. at the 1997 Nike Hoop Summit before winning a gold medal with the U.S. at the 2001 Goodwill Games and a bronze medal at the 2006 FIBA World Championship.

Purdue’s Matt Painter will serve as the committee chair while Tony Bennett (Virginia), Ed Cooley (Providence) and Sean Miller (Arizona) work alongside Battier. The group is charged with issuing invitations for trials and training camps, as well as selecting coaching staffs and team members for USA Basketball college-age teams.
