WALTHAM, Mass. – Through three rounds of pool play Thursday, senior captain Isabella Barna ranks third in women’s epee at the NCAA Fencing Championships in Waltham, Mass. Duke, with three women fencing at the national meet, ranks 11th in the team standings with 19 points heading into Friday.
Columbia/Barnard leads the team competition with 64 points, followed by Notre Dame (54), Princeton (53), Ohio State (50) and St. John’s (49) to round out the top five.
Barna, who placed 19th in women’s epee at the 2015 NCAA Championships, kicked off the last meet of her final collegiate season in great form, winning 10 of her 15 bouts and logging a +11 indicator.
