SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Duke freshman forward Marvin Bagley III earned a pair of postseason honors Sunday night, being named both the National Freshman of the Year and the Pete Newell Big Man of the Year by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
Bagley becomes the third Blue Devil to garner the Pete Newell Award, joining Mason Plumlee in 2013 and Jahlil Okafor in 2015. He is the first Blue Devil to earn the NABC’s Freshman of the Year, and the fourth from Duke to earn a national Freshman of the Year honor.
