DURHAM, N.C. – Women's track & field graduate student Brittany Aveni has been selected Duke's PNC Achiever's Student-Athlete of the Week following her record setting performance at the Tobacco Road Challenge this past weekend.
The Geneva, Ohio native won both events she competed in, taking the 400 meters with a personal best time of 52.23 seconds to beat the program record set by Maddy Price at 52.30 in 2018. Aveni's run also bested the facility record of 52.91 set by Madeline Kopp in 2017.
In the 4x100m relay, Aveni and teammates Halle Bieber, Elena Brown-Soler and Cha'Mia Rothwell set the program record with a time of 44.
