LOS ANGELES – Duke sophomore Grayson Allen was named to the John R. Wooden Award Final Ballot Top 15 on Saturday in an announcement on ESPN by the Los Angeles Athletic Club.
Only players on the 15-man final ballot are eligible to win the 2016 John R. Wooden Award, one of college basketball’s most prestigious honors. Previous Duke winners of the award include Christian Laettner (1992), Elton Brand (1999), Shane Battier (2001), Jason Williams (2002) and J.J. Redick (2006).
A psychology major from Jacksonville, Fla., Allen was honored as a second-team CoSIDA Academic All-American on Thursday.
