DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke senior men’s golfer Alex Smalley has been named a semifinalist for the 2019 Ben Hogan Award, presented to the nation’s best collegiate golfer.
Smalley is one of 10 from across the country in the running for the 2019 award, and one of two semifinalists from the ACC, joining Clemson’s Bryson Nimmer.
The senior from Wake Forest, N.C., is currently the NCAA’s seventh-ranked golfer according to Golfstat and his 69.32 scoring average this season leads the ACC and stands as a Duke single-season record. Smalley also holds the previous mark with his 70.
