Well it’s official: the ACC will play a conference schedule - the 10+1 format which lets various non-conference rivalries be played - and Notre Dame will get to compete for the ACC championship.
Also there will be just one division and the top two teams will play for the championship in the Charlotte game.
Bonus! Notre Dame will share its NBC cash spigot with the rest of the conference.
Clemson partisans might not be impressed, as we mentioned a few days ago, but Pat Forde sure is. He says John Swofford’s ACC did three genius moves:
- Getting Notre Dame to play a conference schedule
- Announcing before the SEC and saying the various ACC/SEC rivalry games would be played but only if they’re in the same state - thus forcing the SEC to cancel them.
