When Jim Harrick was at UCLA -well really, everywhere - our impression of him was that he was a loudmouth and a lout. He came across as disheveled and not very likeable, and one magnificent run aside, he seemed to choke regularly in the NCAA tournament.
So we were never very impressed - until UCLA came to Cameron.
We were struck by how intelligently his team played, how disciplined it was, which was in direct contrast to how he presented himself.
It didn't take long to understand that whatever his faults, he was a masterful offensive coach.
