If you ever get the chance to go back in the Duke Chronicle archives, stop in around 1975-76 and look up columns by John Feinstein.
You’ll see very quickly that he had a distinct voice and talent.
Reading this column by Mitchell Gladstone reminded us a bit of the young Feinstein.
He’s writing about Coach K’s oft-repeated warnings to the NCAA about the need for structural reform to its amateurism model.
It’s an intelligent and insightful article and, we might add, with a distinct voice. It’s not as easy to spot as Feinstein’s, but it’s the sort of voice that you could learn to recognize.
