After we published the recent story about IRS changes that could affect high paid employees of private non-profits, a reader reached to to us to offer some expertise we lack. Here are his comments about the changes:
“I happen to be a retired CPA, and I’m quite certain my comment to you was accurate. Other sport-oriented articles also oversimplified the situation.
“The new tax (an excise tax) on charitable organizations seems to be intended to discourage them from paying high salaries to employees. The tax is to be paid by the charitable organization, not the employees.
