Basketball officials aren’t generally measured by how good they are. They’re more often measured by Kabuki standards - the less you notice them, the better.
There are guys like Ted Valentine, aka Teddy TV, and Dick Paparo, who enjoy the spotlight and inject themselves into the flow of the game. Some guys, like Jamie Luckie, lose public confidence after seemingly losing their composure.
Those guys are almost always despised. No one wants to notice the zebras.
Then there are guys like Tim Nestor.
