Here’s a pretty cool story about Marshall Rauch. Who’s Marshall Rauch? He’s the fourth oldest surviving Duke basketball player.
Now 94, Rauch played ball at Duke when Cameron Indoor Stadium (then Duke Indoor Stadium) was shiny and new.
Like most guys of his era, he went off to war and therefore didn't get to play his full career.
However he has an interesting athletic asterisk, if you will: his grandson, Julian (this family names well) is the guy who carved his name into the Hall of Fame of football upsets when he kicked the field goal that put Appalachian State past Michigan in 2007.
