DURHAM - Duke University held its annual university-wide commencement ceremony Sunday at Brooks Field at Wallace Wade Stadium to celebrate its graduating classes of the academic year as 223 student-athletes received degrees.
Duke welcomed Jerry Seinfeld, comedian and actor, as the commencement speaker while Duke President Vincent Price also addressed the graduates.
Now in his fifth decade as a stand-up comedian, Seinfeld is best known for playing a fictionalized version of himself in the eponymous sitcom he co-created with Larry David for NBC. Seinfeld aired for nine seasons and 180 episodes between 1989 and 1998 and was the most-watched show in America at various points during its run.
