AMES/URBANDALE, Iowa – The Drake women's tennis team competed in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, bowing out to Iowa State, 4-0 on Friday, May 5. Doubles play was completed, and singles play began outdoors at Ames High School before being forced to finish indoors due to rain at Lifetime Fitness in Urbandale. The Bulldogs finished the 2023 campaign with a 16-8 overall mark.
Darinka Stepan and Ines Stephani became the only players in Drake women's tennis history to play in multiple national tournaments.
Ines Stephani and Oriana Parkins-Godwin teamed up to defeat the 77th ranked doubles team (Xinyi Nong/Ange Oby Kajuru) in the nation, 6-1 as the doubles score evened, 1-1.
