TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Drake University freshman Katelyn Williams unleashed a school-record throw in to finish third in the women's hammer throw on the first day of the 2019 Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
Williams, who is the first Bulldog to earn a top-three finish in the event, made her record-setting throw on her fourth attempt with a mark of 185-5 (56.51m). That throw bettered her previous best, which was the school record, by more than 10 feet and continued her record-setting freshman season.
Her third-place finish was part of a busy day for the throwers in final events as Max Harlan took fourth in the javelin with a throw of 174-10 (53.
