Three Drake Athletic Teams Recognized By NCAA

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Three Drake University athletic teams have been awarded the NCAA Public Recognition Award for their outstanding performances in the classroom.

The prestigious Public Recognition Award is given to teams that have posted an Academic Progress Rate (APR) that ranks in the top 10 percent of their sport. The APR is an annual scorecard of academic achievement calculated for all Division I sports teams nationally.

Based on the most recent multiyear APR figures, Drake volleyball, women's tennis and men's cross country were recipients of the Public Recognition Award.

Since the award was established 11 years ago, Drake teams have earned the honor 22 times with volleyball earning the recognition for the fourth-straight year and women's tennis for the third-straight season.
