ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Drake football team secured at least a share of the 2024 Pioneer Football League championship with a 22-19 victory over St. Thomas in the Twin Cities. The Bulldogs recorded two blocked kicks, an interception, and a 52-yard field goal on Saturday to down the Tommies on their home turf.
The Bulldogs began the game with the ball after St. Thomas deferred their selection to the second half. The two teams traded punts before Luke Bailey and the Bulldog offense found a little rhythm. Bailey connected with Taj Hughes out of the backfield for a 22-yard gain before Blake Ellingson came on and ripped off a first-down scamper to cross midfield.
