DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University softball team completed a Missouri Valley Conference series sweep of Indiana State after a pair of run-rule wins Sunday at Buel Field.
Drake (21-13, 7-1 MVC) defeated Indiana State (11-20, 1-7 MVC) by scores of 10-0 and 8-0 as both games ended after five innings.
The Bulldogs received outstanding pitching performances by Nicole Newman (Madison, Wis.) and Nicole Timmons (Davenport, Iowa).
In the first win, Newman, who threw her first career perfect game in Saturday's victory over the Sycamores, allowed just one hit, hit one batter and struck out 13 to improve to 12-6 on the season.
