CHICAGO – A 15-2 scoring run to end the second quarter helped the Drake University women's basketball team claim an 81-65 win over the Loyola Ramblers Sunday afternoon at Gentile Arena.
Drake (14-6, 7-2 MVC), who trailed by 11 points before the scoring run, was able to take a 29-27 halftime lead over Loyola (10-10, 6-3 MVC) with the impressive closing run. Junior Lizzy Wendell (Blue Springs, Mo.) scored eight points during the span, including the final two points on a layup right before the buzzer, as she finished with a game-high 25 points.
