In addition to a school record, 12 members of the Drake University track and field teams also set personal bests in competition Saturday, Feb. 4.
The school record came via Reed Fischer (Minnetonka, Minn.) turning in a time of 8:04.98 in the 3,000 meters to finish fourth at the Meyo Invitational in South Bend, Ind. In addition to shattering the Drake school record in the event, his time ranks as the second fastest in the Missouri Valley Conference this season and one of the top 30 times in the nation. The previous record was set in 2000 by Matt Gabrielson with a time of 8:06.
