OMAHA, Neb. – The No. 24 Drake University women's basketball team used a strong fourth quarter performance to pull away from Creighton (1-4) in an 85-69 victory Wednesday afternoon contest between the longtime rivals.
Drake (7-1), which played its fourth game in seven days, was led by Becca Hittner (Urbandale, Iowa) who scored a season-high 23 points, including surpassing the 1,000-career point mark, with her first 3-pointer of the game. Hittner shot 5-of-9 from the floor, hit 3-of-3 from behind the 3-point line and made a career-high 10 free throws on 12 attempts. She is the 32nd player in program history to reach the 1,000-point milestone.
