ORLANDO, FLA. – Guard Jahvon Quinerly scored eight points in the final 4:29 helping No. 10 ranked Alabama hold off Drake, 80-71, in the second round of the ESPN Events Invitational Friday night.
After two free throws by Drake freshman Tucker DeVries tied the game at 61-61 with 5:16 left, the Crimson Tide scored six straight points to mount a 67-61 lead it never relinquished. DeVries came off the bench scoring 15 points.
Drake only made two baskets, while missing two free throws and committing one turnover in its final nine possessions to close out the game.
