Newman Selected as Candidate for Senior CLASS Award

OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Nicole Newman (Madison, Wis.) of the Drake University softball team has been selected as a candidate for the 2019 Senior CLASS award.

Thirty of the top NCAA® softball student-athletes who excel both on and off the field were selected as candidates for the 2019 Senior CLASS Award® in collegiate softball.

Newman, who is Drake's all-time leader in career strikeouts (935) and wins (71), totals that rank third and 11th all-time in the Missouri Valley Conference. She has been named MVC Pitcher of the Year twice and last season earned Third Team All-American honors.
