OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Redshirt senior pitcher Nicole Newman (Madison, Wis.) of the Drake University softball team was named to the 2019 National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-America First Team as an at-large pitcher selection, the NFCA announced this afternoon at its NCAA Women's Softball College World Series press conference.
Newman, who became Drake's first-ever NFCA All-American last season with her third-team selection, is just the second-ever NFCA First Team All-American in the Missouri Valley Conference and the first since the 2002 (Lindsay Wood, UNI).
Newman, who is a four-time NFCA All-Region selection, ended her Drake career as the most decorated and successful pitcher in program history.
