Teddy Frid and Emilyn Dearman, both coming off solid performances at the USA indoor championships, hold the first-day leads in the multi-events, the opening competition in the 110th Drake Relays presented by Hy-Vee.
Frid, who is redshirting at the University of Minnesota this year, has 3,837 points after five events in the decathlon. Dearman, a former Pittsburg State athlete, compiled 3,604 points through the first four events of the heptathlon.
Both competitions conclude Thursday at Drake Stadium at 10:30 a.m. prior to the start of the annual Distance Carnival at 4:30 p.m. and high school field events at 4 p.
