DES MOINES, Iowa - found his shooting touch and dropped in 19 points to lead the Drake University men's basketball team past Omaha 87-66 at the Knapp Center on Thursday night in the Bulldogs' home opener.
Wilkins, a junior who had scored just 11 points in Drake's first two games, made all four of his 3-point baskets and finished 7-for-8 overall in falling a single point short of his career high. He had been shooting only 25 percent coming in, including 1-for-10 from 3-point range.
Drake improved to 3-0 with its 19 straight nonconference victory at home, the first time the Bulldogs have started a season with three straight victories since 1998-99.
