The Drake University men's basketball team celebrated its 2018-19 Missouri Valley Conference regular-season championship by welcoming fans to the Knapp Center for a ceremonial net-cutting celebration Tuesday evening.
The Bulldogs, coaches and support staff were cheered on by fans as they climbed the ladder to claim their piece of the traditional, sentimental trophy following a historic regular season.
"I thought it was really important to give our guys the opportunity to do this and cut down some nets," said Drake head coach Darian DeVries. "It's not something that is easy to do [win a title] and I want them to celebrate together and with our fans.
