LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Led by 19 points and a game-winning block from senior Nick McGlynn (Stoughton, Wis.), the Drake University men's basketball team advanced to the title game of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Classic with a gritty 66-63 win over New Mexico State Saturday evening at Orleans Arena.
The Bulldogs led by as many as 15 points before a tough New Mexico State (9-3) team made it a one-point game in the final minute. However, Drake (9-2) ultimately executed enough in that last minute to preserve the victory.
"I thought our guys continued to fight and made the plays when they needed to down the stretch," said Drake head coach Darian DeVries.
