The Drake University men's cross country team recorded a first place finish for the first time since 1999 Friday afternoon at the Missouri Valley Conference Championship. The Bulldogs also took the top three spots for individual finishes.
The 1999 Bulldogs finished with 51 points and in 2016 Reed Fischer finished first with a time of 24:31.8.
After battling through the rain and mud on the course, Isaac Basten and Adam Fogg were neck-and-neck for the last 1,000 meters of the race. Basten crossed the finish line first to end with an overall time of 24:13.
