Senior outfielder Macy Johnson of the Drake University softball team is the Missouri Valley Conference Softball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the MVC announced Friday, May 21. In addition, Johnson is on the MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team while senior pitcher Nicole Timmons earned MVC Scholar-Athlete Honorable Mention honors.
Johnson is just the second-ever MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year joining former teammate Mandi Roemmich, who was named the inaugural MVC Scholar-Athlete of the Year last season.
Johnson, who last week was named to the All-MVC First Team for the first time, had an outstanding 2021 season.
