MINNEAPOLIS – The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the Drake University softball team, 6-4, in eight innings Friday night in the first game of the Minneapolis Regional held on the campus of the University of Minnesota.
Georgia (40-17) tied the game in the seventh with a solo home run by Justice Miltz off Nicole Newman (Madison, Wis.) that sent the game to extra innings. Ciara Bryan hit a two-run, one-out walkoff home run in the eighth inning to advance Georgia to Saturday's 3 p.m. winners' game.
Drake (42-14), which took an early 1-0 lead but fell behind 3-1 in the third, grabbed the lead back in the fourth inning.
