SAN DIEGO – In a battle of first-place Pioneer Football teams, the San Diego Toreros defeated the Drake University football team, 49-7, Saturday afternoon at Torero Stadium.
Drake (4-4, 4-1 PFL) had its four-game winning streak stopped as San Diego (6-2, 5-0 PFL) won its 34th-straight league contest.
"San Diego played great today," said Drake head coach Todd Stepsis. "They were the team we expected who play hard, are well coached and disciplined. We needed to play better but we came out flat, couldn't get off the field on defense and offensively just couldn't get anything going.
