BROOKINGS, S.D. - The Drake University women's basketball team couldn't dig itself out of an early hole against South Dakota State falling 87-73 on Tuesday night at Frost Arena.
The Jackrabbits (4-2) opened the game on a 10-0 run and then reeled off another 10-0 spurt as their lead expanded to 24-8 late in the opening period.
responded with a personal 10-0 burst to close Drake's gap to 27-21. Berg scored 18 of her game-high 23 points in the first 13 minutes of play. The two-time Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week added nine rebounds and four assists for Drake (2-3).
