CARBONDALE, Ill. – Garrett Sturtz provided multiple gritty plays including a pair of free throws in the contests's final moments as the Drake University men's basketball team won its third consecutive game, 60-59 win at the Banterra Center over Southern Illinois on Monday night.
The Bulldogs (13-5, 4-1 in Missouri Valley Conference) grabbed their first lead (17-16) of the contest at the 10:36 mark of the first half when Ayo Akinwole drilled a 15-foot jump shot in the lane. On the next Drake possession, Akinwole dished it to Tremell Murphy who made the basket while being fouled and converted the free throw for an old fashioned 3-point play ahead 20-16.
