WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Drake University men's golf team continued its strong play on the first day of the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate at the Golden Horseshoe Golf Course.
Drake carded an opening-round 295 to sit at 11-over par and one stroke behind the leader, No. 43 Campbell.
"Overall, I was very pleased with how we played today," said Drake head coach Matt Lewis. "It is a demanding course and I thought we managed our games well."
Drake senior Tommi Avant paced the Bulldogs and the leaderboard with a 3-under par 68 that featured a pair of eagles to lead all golfers.
