KANSAS CITY -- Jordan Zimmermann continued his mastery of the Royals with five scoreless innings, carrying a three-run Tigers opening inning that withstood late-inning drama to a 3-2 win Saturday at Kauffman Stadium.
The victory ends a seven-game road losing streak for the Tigers, who had dropped the first two games of this four-game set. Hours after the Royals rallied against the Tigers' bullpen in the eighth inning Friday night, Detroit's late-inning relief corps picked up where Zimmermann left off and made the lead stick.
