Worth admiring: McCann slam ignites Tigers' romp over Angels

Detroit – James McCann hit a ball into the center field shrubbery at Comerica Park earlier this season, a blast of more than 420 feet, but he’s never hit a ball harder than the one he hit for a grand slam in the third inning on Monday.

The ball left the bat, according to Statcast, at a career-best 109.4 mph and traveled 413 feet, beyond the bullpens in left field.

It was McCann’s third career grand slam and it sent the Tigers on their way to a 9-3 Memorial Day win over the Los Angeles Angels.

The Tigers have now won three of four on this home stand.
