WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- There were two unexpected sights in the outfield before the game Monday at Ballpark of the Palm Beaches.
Detroit Tigers pitcher Anibal Sanchez, who had made the three-hour trip from Lakeland even though he wasn't scheduled to pitch, was throwing a bullpen session.
Tigers manager Brad Ausmus was serving as his catcher.
"I do it a few times a year. I'm used to seeing it from that angle, so it's a little bit easier for me to judge," Ausmus said.
Sanchez's future in a Tigers' uniform may hinge on whether he can turn things around in the next three weeks.
