Dixon Machado became a better player this winter.
Playing in the Venezuelan Winter League, the Tigers’ shortstop hit .295 with four home runs and 14 RBIs in 29 games. He walked more than he struck out, and he apparently made great play after great play at shortstop.
“Wow,” was all outfielder Wynton Bernard said.
Bernard played with Machado — they hit at the top of Leones del Caracas’ lineup.
“It was amazing,” Machado said about the winter. “To go out there and do good, it gives you confidence. I feel pretty good about everything right now.
