The news from Lakeland hasn’t been good lately. A fractured spinal process. A strained hamstring. A sore right shoulder. An impingement in another.
Sounds like an NFL summer camp, not spring training. Yet here we are, less than two weeks from Opening Day, and the Detroit Tigers’ bullpen and back end of the rotation is a mess.
Thanks to injuries.
That just keep coming.
Which makes us wonder if this season will be much different from the last? Well, think of it this way: yes, the Tigers’ primary stars are getting old — by baseball standards, anyway — and Victor Martinez (37) and his strained hamstring is worrisome.
