KANSAS CITY, Mo. – As legend has it, Victor Reyes couldn’t hit off a batting tee last year.
His swing had too much uppercut, always topping the baseball off the tee. Eventually, as Reyes mostly sat on the Detroit Tigers’ bench as a Rule 5 Draft pick, his swing leveled off.
A year later, after six trips to and from Triple-A Toledo this season — where he’s hitting .302 with nine home runs and 55 RBIs in 252 at-bats — Reyes looks like he's starting to get the hang of the major leagues.
