As baseball season at Comerica Park patiently waits to begin, the anticipation for the 2020 MLB draft is growing.
That's because the Detroit Tigers possess the No. 1 pick.
For the second time in three years, the Tigers have the top selection, which is expected to be used on either Spencer Torkelson or Austin Martin. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the June 10 draft has been trimmed from 40 rounds to five.
While live baseball is on hold, mock draft season is in full swing.
In ESPN's first mock draft, insider Kiley McDaniel has the Tigers taking Torkelson, a first baseman from Arizona State, but doesn't shy away from mentioning the uncertainty that surrounds the top two players, both represented by agent Scott Boras.
