The West Michigan Whitecaps, after scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie the Dayton Dragons, saw their season come to an end in the 11th.
The Dragons plated the go-ahead run on a passed ball to pick up the 4-3 victory and eliminate the Whitecaps in the Midwest League Eastern Division semifinals before 2,635 at Fifth Third Ballpark.
It was an unceremonious finish in the best-of-three series for the Whitecaps, who had the league's best record in each half and went 91-45 in the regular season. It was the second-most wins in franchise history.
