DETROIT -- Chicago White Sox manager Rick Renteria has returned home as he continues to be evaluated after experiencing a bout of dizziness.
Renteria was hospitalized Monday in Minneapolis after feeling lightheaded. The team said he is now back in Chicago and in "good spirits." Bench coach Joe McEwing will manage the White Sox on Monday.
Tigers manager Ron Gardenhire, who missed time last year after undergoing surgery for prostate cancer, reached out to Renteria to wish him well.
"I texted him and checked on him. He texted back and said he appreciated it," said Gardenhire, who spoke to the media before the White Sox announced that Renteria would not be with the team on Thursday.
