The Detroit Tigers season opening series with the Los Angeles Dodgers went pretty badly. Losing two of three to the defending champs is acceptable. A sweep never is. The games were close until Kenta Maeda waived the white flag on Saturday night, but it was a bit of a microcosm of the Tigers when measured against the game’s best. Competitive, but consistently one good at-bat or one good relief appearance short of victory. Frankly the Dodgers rotation wasn’t even very impressive and the Tigers’ offense let them off the hook over and over again. They did not return the favor.
