What Lance Parrish learned his first season as Whitecaps manager

Lance Parrish's first season in low Class-A with the West Michigan Whitecaps can best be described with a story Parrish tells about his days coaching in the Los Angeles Dodgers' system.

Legendary manager Tommy Lasorda would make the rounds inquiring on the development of youngsters.

"Inevitably, we'd tell him, 'You know, I must have told so-and-so a hundred times not to do something,'" Parrish said of the meetings. "And Tommy would say, 'I know, but I'll tell you what. Tell him one more time."

Those became words to live by for Parrish, a veteran of seven seasons as a manager who spent his first one at the Class-A level since he was with the Dodgers' affiliate in Great Lakes in 2007.
