SEATTLE -- Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera didn't realize his friendly gesture earlier this year would end up helping the enemy.
Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez launched a game-winning grand slam on Wednesday to lift the Tigers' AL Central rivals to a victory over the Boston Red Sox.
The first grand slam of Perez's career was hit with Cabrera's bat.
"I give away all my good bats," Cabrera lamented with a smile in the clubhouse on Wednesday.
Cabrera actually gave the two bats to Royals catcher Drew Butera, who then lent one to Perez on Wednesday in Kansas City.
