Quite often, spring training baseball games can become slightly rote, with the managers using it as an opportunity to see how the veteran players will do at their positions and give the young up-and-comers a chance to play with the big boys. The games can occasionally lag, and we are often reminded that they “don’t matter.”
Be that as it may, hopefully the young player in the Tigers dugout were watching on Monday afternoon as first baseman Miguel Cabrera pulled off one of the oldest sneaky baseball tricks in the book. In the bottom of the third inning, he tagged out Twins’ runner Ehire Adrianza.
